Lee Barton Farm, Coombe Valley
stone barn conversion, on the edge of well known aCoombe Valley (a favourite
with ramblers) , 2 miles from Kilkhampton village and 5 miles from
Bude, North Cornwall. Enjoy the 2 miles walk via footpaths down through
National Trust Coombe Valley to Duckpool beauty spot and beach. Continue
the walk along the coastal; beach and cliff walks - try the coastal walk
southwards to Bude. Bude ibeach resort, a smaller family resort, has large
classic sandy beaches; a great feature is Bude's free open air beach
swimming pool. The Roundhouse is in an attractive rural setting
on a working farm, with grass gardens. Farm play field with goal posts
& swings. Approx 5 minutes stroll over to the farmís 2
ponds. One pond (approx 66 yards long) was restocked with coarse fish during
2010 (tench,golden rudd & carp). Tench up to 3 lbs and carp up to 10lbs.
The second pond dates back to mediaeval times and was originally used as
a carp pond by monks in the 12th cenrtury and is one of the oldest carp
ponds in the country (featured on a T.V. programme). The pond has now been
set aside as a nature sanctuary and migratory birds including ducks commonly
make an appearance. The ponds are in a pretty, wooded setting, making
a great venue for picnics, fishing, or just to enjoy the scenery.
The more energetic may enjoy the walk across the adjacent field (with panoramic
views over the countryside) along the footpath through the farmís
13 acres of woodland.
The first bedroom (downstairs) has 1 double bed & T.V. The second bedroom (an impressive gallery bedroom with balcony, great fun for children, overlooking the lounge area) has 2 single beds. Roomy open plan living area. Kitchen area has an electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine. Lounge/dining area with wide screenT.V.& DVD. Downstairs bathroom with bath, overhead shower, toilet and washbasin. Easy to keep warm with wall mounted electric radiators in all rooms including bedrooms. Adjacent parking for 2 cars. No pets.
